Nrnāṁ nayana-saubhagam divişadāṁ mukhais tārayan lasann adhidharah prabhur vijayate saci-nandanah

May the shining son of Sacī, supporting the universe, uprooting all ignorance of men created by the darkness of Kali just by the shadow of his bodily effulgence, unobtainable by millions of Cupids, and giving happiness to the devatās' eyes by his face, manifest his excellence!

- Śrī Stavāmsta-laharī, Śrī-Sacīnandana-vijayāstakam verse 6

Dehārbudāni bhagavan yugapat prayaccha vaktrārbudāni ca punah pratideham eva jihvārbudāni krpayā prativaktram eva nrtyantu teșu tava nātha guņārbudāni O Lord!

Give me ten million bodies and in each body ten million mouths, and in each mouth, ten million tongues. O master! May your ten million qualities dance on these tongues.

-Śrī Stavāmrta-laharī, Śrī -Anurāga-valli) verse 1

Nyadhad gītā-ratnam trijagad atulam yat priya-sakhe paraṁ tattvam premnoddhava-parama-bhakte ca nigamam nija-prāņa-preșthāsv api rasa-bhịtam gopa-kulajāsv ato jñānaih pūrnah sa bhavatu mude nanda-tanayah

May Krsna, complete with all types of knowledge, who gave the jewel of the Gītā, incomparable in the three worlds, to Arjuna, who gave the scripture of supreme tattva of prema to highest devotee Uddhava, and who gave a wealth of rasa to the gopis, dear to his life, give bliss to us.

-Śrī Stavāmsta-laharī, Śrī-Svayambhagavattvāştakam verse 6

About the Author

Śrīla Viśvanātha Cakravarti Thākura was born in 1674 in the Nadiyā district of West Bengal. He had two brothers: Śrī Rāmabhadra Cakravartī and Śrī Raghunātha Cakravartī. Viśvanātha received initiation from Śrī Krsnacarana Cakravartī, in whose house he lived for a long time and wrote many books. In Nadiyā, Viśvanātha studied the scriptures and Sanskrit grammar, poetry, and rhetoric. Even as a boy in school, he was a formidable scholar who could defeat anyone in logic and debate. Although indifferent to family life, Viśvanātha married at a young age at his father's request. He was married only a short time, however, renouncing his wife and home to live in Vrndāvana. Although his family and friends often tried to bring Viśvanātha back home, he was fixed in his determination to serve Lord Krsna in the Lord's transcendental earthly abode. In Vịndāvana, Viśvanātha took up residence in the former cottage (bhajana-kuțīr) of Śrīla Krsnadāsa Kavirāja Gosvāmī, on the bank of the sacred lake known as Rādhā Kunda. Living there with a disciple of Krsnadāsa's named Mukunda Dāsa, Viśvanātha carefully studied the books of Rūpa Gosvāmī, Sanātana Gosvāmī, and other Gosvāmīs and later wrote commentaries on many of these books. Śrīla Viśvanātha Cakravarti also wrote important commentaries on Śrīmad Bhāgavatam and Bhagavad-gitā.
