Book Description
Introduction
The Mysore University is publishing through the Oriental Research Institute, Mysore a great Sanskrit Kavya called "Kavikarṇarasayanam" or "Colabhupaliyam" by Sri Sadakşrideva or Sadak şarikavi with the lucid and comprehensive Sanskrit commentary called "Sahityasudhodaya" by Vengana sudhi. This kavya consists of twelve cantos. The subject matter is the story of Manakanjara and Sundaracola, the pauranic persons who, by virtue of genuine Siva bhakti attained "Sivaganatva" and are even today worshipped among the 63 puranas. For details see page 22 of Sanskrit Introduction.

The commentary by Venganasudhi is also useful as it is on the model of other standard commentaries.

Sadakşrideva, as explained in Page 2, Sanskrit Introduction, fills in an important gap in the 17th century among the lineage of eminent Sanskrit and Kannada Mahakavis. His native place was Dhanugur, Malavalli Taluk, Mysore District. He was born in an Aradhya family and by virtue of his scholarship, conduct and character was taken as Rajaguru by Amṛtāmbā, the mother of Sri Chikkadevaraja Vodeyar, king of Mysore. She resided at Yelandur, Mysore District, where still exists the tomb (Gaddige) of Sadakşari.
